Every child in Cape Town shows up to learn. Not every child shows up with what they need to. A single calculator can change a term. A uniform can change whether a student stays. We close that gap one backpack, one classroom, one cycle at a time.

A quiet kind of crisis.

In many communities across Cape Town, students arrive at school without the basic tools they need to succeed — pens, notebooks, calculators, and backpacks. Without these essentials, learning becomes harder, confidence drops, and opportunities are limited from the start.

01 — The Problem

Students arrive without the basics.

Pens, notebooks, calculators, backpacks — the essentials a syllabus assumes every student has. When they don't, the gap isn't just material. Confidence drops. Participation drops. Quietly, the ceiling lowers.

02 — Our Response

Bridging the gap, one kit at a time.

Tools For Tomorrow was created to bridge this gap. By collecting and distributing school supplies, we ensure that students are equipped not just to attend school, but to fully participate and thrive.

03 — How It Works

From community support to students' hands.

We partner with schools and community organisations to identify students in need. Through donations and community support, we gather essential supplies and organise distribution drives. Each backpack delivered is more than just supplies — it's confidence, dignity, and a step toward a better future.

"
Having the right supplies changes everything — our students arrive prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

The Founder

Myla Marcic — student, founder, Cape Town.

Myla Marcic is a student at St Cyprian's School in Cape Town with a passion for education and equal opportunity.

Growing up in Cape Town, I became aware of the inequalities that exist within the education system — particularly the lack of access to basic school supplies for many students. I started Tools for Tomorrow with a simple but powerful idea: small tools can create big change.

By mobilising my school community and local supporters, I have begun building a movement focused on access and opportunity for every learner. My goal is to expand Tools for Tomorrow across more schools and communities, ensuring that no student is held back simply because they lack the basics.
